He shook his head, "I haven't the slightest idea. The legend was written in an ancient scipt upon a scroll that my colleagues and I found in the cellar of an abandoned dwarven temple... The bottom portion of that scroll was burnt off, ruined long ago, and lost for ever." Silence fell between the two. Only the faint sound of miners tinkering away at the rubble could be heard in the distance. "I want to believe that since these stones are of great value, that they are hidden well. With luck, they are buried deep somewhere. It was by sheer luck, good or bad, that a meteor unearthed this long-lost temple. This here ruby is a bonus, a great find for archeologists such as ourselves."

Zaryn nodded. It was indeed lucky that they found this ruby and quickly discovered what it really was before someone else did and decided to use it for it's original purpose. "So, should we just leave it here or take it and perhaps put it in the museum? Either way, we have to do something, preferably something that would keep it from someone... unpleasant," Zaryn asked. Either way, we need to make a decision quickly, she thought, looking around at the other miners. No one was watching, thank goodness, but no one should find out.

The little old man looked around with a wary eye. He leaned in closer to the girl, and in a soft whisper he said, "Take it, take it and bring it to the Embassy of Magic. You must hurry and run. Make sure no one sees it in your possession, and let no one stop you. Bring it to the Queen herself, she has the means to protect it. Trust no one in the Embassy but her. If anyone asks, just tell them you have an urgent message from Dr. Jentin." He brought out a clean hankerchief from his coat pocket, and wrapped it around the gem for safe-keeping. He handed it off to the girl, hoping she would do as he requested.
